Digital Temperature Sensors and conventional Thermometers
The water temperature sensor is used in connection with the weld-in plunger; it serves for the measurement of the ambient water temperature on board of ships, offshore platforms etc. The installation is made by welding the plunger (stainless steel tube with flange) to the corresponding wall of a water box. After filling the tube with a special heat-conducting paste the temperature sensor is introduced and screwed up. The measuring element consists of an encased hard glass platinum resistance Pt 100 W, which is joined by means of a 4-line connection. The sensor is placed in a stainless steel shaft which is filled with heat-conducting powder. The housing of the cable terminal, which is screwed up with the shaft, consists of aluminium and is provided with a sealed screw cap and a screwed joint.
